Policies & Expectations

Appointments - Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you are running late, please call or text (207) 660-7519 as soon as possible. Appointment availability is limited each week, and late cancellations or missed appointments prevent me from offering those reserved time slots to other clients.

Hem Fitting Requirements - For all hem fittings, please bring the shoes you plan to wear with your garment. If those shoes are unavailable, a pair with the same heel height is acceptable. The correct shoes are essential for achieving an accurate hem length.

Undergarments - Please bring any shapewear, specialty bra, or other undergarments you intend to wear with your garment. The proper undergarments help ensure the best possible fit.

Rush Services - A rush fee may apply to alteration requests that require completion in less than three weeks. Rush fees are determined based on the type of alteration, the time of year, current workload, and scheduling availability. Rush services cannot be guaranteed and are offered only when scheduling permits.

Garment Responsibility - Once a garment has been paid for and leaves my possession, I am no longer responsible for its condition, storage, handling, or any damage that may occur.

Inspection & Additional Changes - Clients are expected to try on their garment at the time of pickup so any fit concerns can be addressed immediately. Once a garment has been taken home, any additional alterations or adjustments will be considered a new service request and will be billed accordingly.

Communication - If you have any questions before your appointment or pickup, please don't hesitate to reach out. Clear communication helps ensure the best possible results for your alterations.

Commonly Asked Questions

Why do I have to make an appointment? I am a one-woman operation who works out of our home. Appointments manage my workload so I can provide the best service possible. All appointments can be made here. Please do not call to make an appointment. Please don’t show up at my house to make an appointment, that’s just rude.

How much would it cost to do ‘so & so’ to my garment? Take a look at my Services & Pricing tab to get an idea of cost. If the service you need falls outside of these categories contact me.

Do you work on wedding dresses? No. Anything bridal is referred to Something Altered or Hem & Veil in Portland, Maine. Please do not book an appointment if you are looking for wedding dress alterations. I will work on formal wear (prom, mother of the bride/groom, bridesmaid, etc).

Do you make custom ‘so & so"‘? No. FixinStitch is a repair and alterations business and does not make custom garments or items.

When do you collect payment? What forms of you accept? Venmo is great, cash is even better. I do take cards but they are not preferred (feeeees!) For orders over $100, I kindly ask for a 50% deposit at drop off, with the remaining balance due at pickup.

Why is your turnaround a minimum of three weeks? Repair work and alterations take time. Each garment is handled with care and attention to detail, and quality workmanship cannot be rushed. Proper fittings, precise measurements, and skilled craftsmanship are all important parts of the process. My goal is to provide work that fits well, looks professional, and lasts — because quality craftsmanship is worth the time.
